![]() In Purusha Suktam, the universal being Purusha is defined in verses 2 to 5. He is described as a being who pervades everything conscious and unconscious, forms and formless universally. He is depicted poetically as the one with thousand heads, eyes and legs, all-encompassing not just the earth, but the entire cosmos from all the sides and transcending it by ten fingers length - or transcending in all 10 dimensions. ![]() According to the sacred hymn, all the manifestations, in past, present and future, is held to be the Purusha. ![]() The Rig Vedic hymn, Purusha Suktam is one of the Pancha Suktam (5 Suktams) – Purusha Suktam, Vishnu Suktam, Sri Suktam, Bhu Suktam, and Nila Suktam. ![]() Present in the oldest Rig Veda, Purusha Suktam is dedicated to Vishnu, who is described as the great being Purusha in the sacred hymn. The mantras in this hymn are written in a meter (15 in the Anushtubh meter, and the final one in the Trishtubh meter) and have the power to generate a tremendous positive spiritual force.
